Coaching Boys Into Men

Sports-based violence prevention program for youth athletes

Coaching Boys Into Men is a sports-based initiative being implemented by Black Build Up and partners. CBIM was originally developed by Futures Without Violence and is recognised as the only evidence-based violence prevention program that trains and motivates high school coaches to teach their young male athletes healthy relationship skills, mental health practices, and the understanding that violence never equals strength. The program is delivered through twelve weekly coach-led discussions that take place during regular team practice.

WORBE Project

Timeline: March 2024 - Present

The WORBE Project aims at improving the representation of persons of African descent or who identify as black in the Banking, Finance and Tech sectors in Alberta and British Columbia. Increasing representation is important for sustainable growth and innovation. However, significant disparities in the representation persist for Black and racialized individuals in Alberta and British Columbia's banking and finance sectors. Underrepresentation in banking and finance can have wide range of impacts as lack of diversity stifles creativity, innovation, access and knowledge to underserved communities ultimately hindering progress and corporate growth.
